Posted: 17 Apr 2009 08:18 AM PDT The music of Canadian producers Adam K and Soha has been overshadowed somewhat by the unstoppable rise of fellow Toronto-based electro/progressive house star Deadmau5, yet their productions could be considered just as accomplished. Following their hit 'From The Speaker' on Mark Knight's Toolroom in June 2008, the pair now return to Toolroom with 'Questions' EP, a record that shows the pair are beginning to explore darker territories beyond the crowd-pleasing melodic progressive house sound championed by Deadmau5 and his contemporaries. They are pushing deeper, even.
Posted: 17 Apr 2009 05:15 AM PDT La Roux, the production duo consisting of Ben Langmaid and Elly Jackson were 2008’s hot tip for chart success with their penchant for 80’s sounding electro pop combined with Elly’s sultry, diva vocals. At the time of writing La Roux was residing in the Top 5 UK singles chart having been signed to Polydor and it seems like everyone was right.
Arthur Russell Interpretations - various artists Posted: 17 Apr 2009 03:05 AM PDT Perhaps you've yet to hear about London’s nudisco label Electric Minds. If so, their 10th release which celebrates the label's first anniversary is a fine example of the kind of high quality disco-inspired music they're about. With this release, Electric Minds pays tribute to one of the least known but perhaps most respected contributors to the disco genre; Arthur Russell (1952 – 1992).
Posted: 16 Apr 2009 05:15 PM PDT Rotterdam-based producer Jaimie Fanatic is about to blow up with a new single out on Mad Decent that officially initiates him into Diplo’s crew. They're proving to be one of the tightest, coolest, and most successful music-production rings in the business, moving glowsticks in Boise as easily as they’re shaking asses in Baltimore.
Video: Pitto ‘Feelin’’ causes club to explode Posted: 16 Apr 2009 03:35 PM PDT This video demonstrates the dangerous power of Pitto's house bomb 'Feelin'', which shows DJ Nuno Dos Santos dropping the cut at Amsterdam's Club 11's on its last ever night. The sound quality is not great, but when the beat kicks in you can see the whole club explode in one giant display of colour and energy. It really is one of the best house records of the year, and it brings back all sorts of Miami WMC feelings. Watch this video on Beatportal
Posted: 16 Apr 2009 02:20 PM PDT Jerome Sydenham has to be one of the most underrated producers in the US electronic music scene. Despite a number of standout cuts like 'Sandcastles' (which he produced with Dennis Ferrer), 'Elephant' (one of the biggest techno tracks of 2007, produced alongside Rune), 'GSXR 810' and 'Son of Raw' (another Ferrer collaboration) he is rarely given his dues in the press and blog world. 'Judgement' is yet another outstanding Sydenham groove that will probably shift hundreds of thousands of feet this summer thanks to its usefulness as a DJ tool, yet it'll probably remain under the radar of most people.

Does Hervé have multiple personality disorder? Posted: 16 Apr 2009 12:38 PM PDT We're only four months into 2009 and UK producer Joshua Harvey, aka Hervé has yet another album out. Quite clearly he never knows when to stop, or maybe, he has multiple personality disorder. Having put out one of the year's biggest selling compilations 'Ghetto Bass', he's currently working on a debut album with fellow bassline culpit Sinden. Now somewhere along the lines he has found time to produce a downtempo album for Loungin’ Recordings.
WMC bomb here: Analog People In A Digital World ‘Rose Rouge’ Posted: 16 Apr 2009 11:01 AM PDT Parisian producer Ludovic Navarre was the brains behind St. Germain, the famous jazz outfit that produced, amongst others, the classic 'Rose Rouge'. Navarre's use of kick drums and analog bass machines (in favour of a real bassist) surreptitiously introduced jazz fans to house music, but it's doubtful that he could have ever imagined that nine years later that influence would return full circle. It did however triumphantly, at last month's annual WMC gathering of dance music fans in Miami. You couldn't go near a house or techno club without hearing Analog People In A Digital World's remake of 'Rose Rouge'.
Video: The Juan Maclean ‘One Day’ Posted: 16 Apr 2009 09:39 AM PDT Yay DFA! Finally a new album from The Juan Maclean is coming; the anticipated follow up to 2005’s debut album ‘Less Than Human’ which introduced us not just to a new production team on the scene, but to a gifted remixer in Juan (aka John) Maclean, who has since adapted his own versions of tunes for acts like Matthew Dear, Munk, Air and Daft Punk. But as much as I’ve enjoyed the remix work, a full length album was always what I yearned for. Here's the video for 'One Day', the first single to be released from his new album 'The Future Will Come'. Watch this video on Beatportal
In System Travel - Jamie Vex’d Posted: 15 Apr 2009 05:40 PM PDT Jamie Vex'd has had a busy year what with re-locating to Berlin, having his first child and embarking on his ambitious solo career, so it’s amazing that he’s still managing to lead the electronica and dubstep pack with his ingenuity in the studio. This track, his first solo release since departing ways with Roly Porter is a science fiction, soul driven mind bender of a track with obscure beat patterns and deep vocal samples.
