| Posted: 02 Apr 2009 05:04 AM PDT Here's an inventively groovy video for Osborne's 'The Count', an electrified techno cut on Spectral Sound. Using some clips from the famed Detroit TV program, The New Dance Show, 'The Count' is wonderfully juxtaposed against swinging 1980s dancers, afros, and drabs MC Hammer might have based his wardrobe on. | The Case (of the Lost Jacksters) / Earthquaker - Green Velvet Posted: 02 Apr 2009 03:31 AM PDT Green Velvet aka Cajmere did a huge amount of groundbreaking work in the early days of house and techno, however, it's clear from his new release 'The Case (of the Lost Jacksters)' he's still very much a forward-thinking man. This is erratic and bizarre house music that somehow manages to squeeze Green Velvet's typified hallucinogenic vocals, acid basslines, jazzy pianos, huge organs and bleepy beats into a comprehensively catchy track. |
| WMC Video: Stephan Bodzin on Lemur multi-touch Posted: 01 Apr 2009 04:32 PM PDT JazzMutant's beautiful multi-touch controller Lemur has carved itself a miniscule niche amongst electronic music producers who can afford its $2000 price tag, and on Sunday at the Beatport Pool Party at WMC Stephan Bodzin demonstrated the awesome power of touch-screening (see, we turned it into a verb) a DJ set. | MSTRKRFT announce new LP ‘Fist of God’ Posted: 01 Apr 2009 02:14 PM PDT Indie dance duo MSTRKRFT a few moments ago announced that their forthcoming sophomore album 'Fist of God' will be released in June. Describing 'Fist of God', Jesse F. Keeler said, "We tried to make ‘festival weapons,’ so when we play them, it’s like throwing a million hatchets into the audience." Sounds brutal. |

| Posted: 01 Apr 2009 04:36 AM PDT Just in time to wrap up this past week of glorious electronic music mayhem, this installment of dancefloor slayers comes from Miami's own Oscar G. One half of the infamous Murk production duo and eight-year resident of Miami's Club Space, Oscar G. has been an integral cog in the groovin' wheel for close to two decades. In a blend of neo-tribal drums, dark and sexy vocals, and melody rich basslines, we heard the damage firsthand during the Nervous Records afterhours on Saturday night at Nocturnal, where he tore down the house as the sun rose. Afterward, we grabbed this Miami man and grilled him for his choice cuts -- peruse them below. |

| WMC interview: The Martinez Brothers Posted: 27 Mar 2009 05:49 PM PDT At 17 and 20 years-old respectively, Chris and Steve Martinez are one of the most talked about duos in dance music circles. Even the New York Times got in on the action and proclaimed The Martinez Brothers as the saviours of New York's house scene. US deep house god Dennis Ferrer has taken them under his Objektivity wing and given them a series of releases on his high profile label. It's about high time we caught up with The Martinez Brothers to find out if the hype is well deserved so I met the brothers a few minutes ago for a quick interview in Miami. |
