WMC bomb heard: Jamie Jones ‘Summertime’

We've been in Miami for just a few hours and already one of our WMC Track predictions has come true. Jamie Jones 'Summertime' was just dropped at the Pornograph Welcome To Miami Party at the Chesterfield Hotel and even though there was only 50 or so people in the room, the vibe picked up considerably. Yep this is a bomb indeed.

Video: Freemasons review Native Instruments’ Maschine

In this Future Music video, UK house group the Freemasons review Native Instruments' much hyped Maschine (which was unveiled at NAMM 2009), and they conclude "you really can get lost in the flow of this thing". With five gigs of onboard samples, drum pads, built-in effects, transport controls and MIDI capabilities for software like Ableton, the Maschine has almost everything the modern producer needs.

‘Carl Cox 24/7’ documentary to be premiered at WMC

For those of you lucky enough to be heading out to Miami be sure to head over to the Shelborne Hotel hosted by DJmag on Thursday 26th of March to catch the exclusive world premier of the much anticipated documentary film, 'Carl Cox 24/7'. The screening starts at 2pm with Carl himself holding a meet and greet session with a lucky few after the film.

WMC Track: The Transatlantins ‘I Can’t Live Without Music’

A smile is infectious and the currency of dance music has always been its ability to unlock your inner happiness through a collective upswing in energy that's perpetrated by DJs and their music. Feel good vibes then, have always been the mantra of house music and screaming vocal house records are unashamedly euphoric in their approach to moving great swathes of sweaty people. Roger Sanchez and DJ Oliver under the name The Transatlantins have teamed up with legendary house vocalist India for 'I Can't Live Without Music' and they will surely conquer Miami's WMC this week.

It is no coincidence that dance music springs to life each year at Miami’s Winter Music Conference, which occurs the week directly following the Vernal Equinox (beginning of spring). For the start of better times, is a concept that is far too deeply embedded into us for even the commercial instincts of the music industry to compete with. Instead it has to work with it.
