Posted: 13 Mar 2009 05:55 PM PDT Luca Venezia – aka NYC’s bassline champion Drop The Lime – returns with a swagger to the Institubes stage behind his housier guise, Curses!, to offer a TWA (tune wiv attiude) that will smack you round the face and leave your sorry ass battered and bruised. That’s a good thing, though. Forget all this softly-softly dance music that wouldn’t even offend your Grandma these days, 'The Deep End' sticks it to the man, middle finger up, jeans ripped, nipple pierced.
Are parts the future of electronic music releases? Posted: 13 Mar 2009 03:20 PM PDT After a 10-month hiatus, Kevin Gorman's Mikrowave label has returned with an innovative new series 'Elements', in which component parts of the releases are offered separately. The Manchester label that has welcomed the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Mark Broom, Alex Under and Tadeo on previous releases, will output a further three installments of a series that will run through until June. In addition to the three traditional tracks 'Elements Part 1' is bundled with pads, beats, riffs and stripped down versions of the source material.
Luciano’s Cadenza returns from hibernation Posted: 13 Mar 2009 12:34 PM PDT Luciano's highly respected Cadenza record imprint is back after months of hibernation. The label has a string of releases planned from cutting edge artists for the coming weeks, including Argenis Brito, Michel Cleis & Salvatore Freda and Ernesto Ferreyra. But in typical form, Cadenza are only teasing the releases at this time as 12" vinyl singles, but they should hopefully see the digital light of day at some point (Cadenza certainly understand the promotional benefits of limited vinyl pressings). We've embedded previews of some of the best tracks after the jump, and are now praying that they make it onto Beatport someday.

What’s in the DJ’s box? Spencer Parker Posted: 13 Mar 2009 09:51 AM PDT Spencer Parker is a DJ and producer very much on the ascendancy. We could bang on about his appearances for Liebe Detail, Buzzin Fly Records and Tsuba. Or the fact he's signed to the highly respected UK imprint Rekids and regularly plays out all over the globe. But what you should know first and foremost about Spencer, is he's a genuine and likeable sort of fella from London, who endeavours to play cutting-edge house and techno of the highest order. Oh, and he's about to release a mix CD called 'Rekids Revolution'. Spencer allowed us to peek into his record box ahead of another busy weekend, in order to understand the influences behind the man.
