Genrecast: Chill Out 10 - Beatport

Posted: 19 Jan 2009 03:38 PM CST

For this week's installment of the Chill Out Genrecast, we set it off with tracks from Thievery Corporation, Kevin Yost, Pulshar, Lazy Soul Recordings (Istmo), and more. Similar to the Beatport Burners, the Genrecast is an 'enhanced' podcast, which means each track in the mix has a track mark and shows the release artwork, so when you listen to it in iTunes or on your iPod you'll be able to skip through tracks in the mix, see the cover art of each release and click through to Beatport to buy the release. It's the easiest way for DJs to do record shopping!

Posted: 19 Jan 2009 12:46 PM CST

That ever-reliable barometer of club sounds Azuli has just announced a new 'Future Disco' compilation will drop on 23rd March - just in time for WMC - and that could mean disco might dominate clubs over the next 12 months, because Azuli's dancefloor 'predictions' usually come true.

British newspaper The Independent last Thursday published a report by the charity DrugScope which suggests that use of the drug ketamine increased in the country by 10 per cent in 2008. It even goes so far as to claim that "ketamine is increasingly replacing cocaine as the substance of choice among Britain's recreational drug users."

Ultraviolence - Heartsrevolution

What’s happened to Vitalic since 'OKCowboy?' Seriously. This seminal album was released nearly four years ago, and will undoubtedly stand the test of time as being one of the most devastating and dynamic electronic albums of the 21st century. For the past few years we have been teased and taunted with a live album and a few choice remixes from this electro-uber-God, this remix being a prime example of cutting French electro house.
