The new Beatport puts the power back in your hands

On Wednesday 21st January the long-awaited Beatport 4.0 will launch. In this final unveiling of the site there are over 50 enhancements that include some of the most popular user-requested features. These include embedded artwork, enhanced preview quality (64k to 96k), docking capabilities for playlists and My Beatport, RSS feeds to every page on Beatport, deeplinks, keyboard commands and content filters. Amsterdam Dance Event 2009 dates

The 2009 edition of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) will take place from 21st - 24th October, with an extra day having been added to the program. Last year's ADE attracted around 90,000 dance music fans to the city, and over 700 international DJs played at 44 clubs and venues throughout Amsterdam.

Is Ableton Live 8 coming Thursday?

Ableton has refused to confirm to us what the basis of their press conference will be on Thursday at the NAMM 2009 music tech show, but it might be one of two things (we hope, as both possible announcements are exciting). The first is Ableton 8 - Ableton didn't release a new version of its software in 2008, but we've heard that the company has been hard at work testing Ableton 8 and our sources tell us it might be ready soon.

British DJs take on cancer

A group of British DJs have teamed up to help the fight against cancer. Under the banner of 'Around The World In 80 Raves', the collective, which includes electro house star Micky Slim [a], Ibiza-based DJ Oliver Lang [a] and Aaron Ross [a] from Defected [l], aims to raise money for the charity Cancer Research UK through a series of worldwide club events.
