- Movement interview: Heidi
- Video: Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden ‘Bonkers’
- Interview: Sydney Blu, the electro house nomad
| Posted: 22 May 2009 04:03 AM PDT Heidi stands tall in a scene full of male bravado and techno snobbery, her curly hair and constant smile as much a breath of fresh air as her sexy, soulful deep house and tech house music. Her talents have been recognized by many in the scene, including Get Physical who she regularly tours with, BBC Radio 1 who she hosts a monthly show for, and Paxahau who have Heidi playing at their high profile Movement festival tomorrow. In this interview, Heidi talks about her radio show, her life in Berlin, her former position at London's Phonica record shop and how her performance at this month's Movement is something of a full circle for the Windsor girl. |
| Video: Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden ‘Bonkers’ Posted: 21 May 2009 02:58 PM PDT Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden's collaboration 'Bonkers' is set to go to No.1 in the UK Top 40 chart this week. As you can see by the video it's proper electro house, which is quite a triumph considering house very rarely makes it to the top. Dizzee's defection into dance music began last year when Calvin Harris produced his award-winning single 'Dance Wiv Me' (NME crowned 'Dance Wiv Me' Best Dancefloor Filler of 2008). | Interview: Sydney Blu, the electro house nomad Posted: 21 May 2009 10:50 AM PDT Joanne Hill's life has been two big journeys. She was born "in the middle of nowhere, with the outdoors all around me" in the small city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. At 17, she debunked to the livelier Ottawa where she studied tourism at college and discovered dance music at a club called Atomic. In 2000, she turned down a job at Walt Disney's Epcot Center Globe in Orlando, Florida, to become a local DJ in Toronto. Now she spends most of her time at 35,000 feet circling Earth. She was a small town girl who yearned to be a DJ. She is now Sydney Blu, a jetsetter who wants to be a globally recognised brand. |
