| Feature: All for one, and one for Moderat Posted: 11 May 2009 08:55 AM PDT Modeselektor and Apparat stride towards the future arm-in-arm as Moderat. The three Berlin musketeers drag a wagon laden with analogue equipment behind them. In front of them lies only the horizon and the promise of electronic music adventures. All for one, and one for Moderat. When Modeselektor, the Radiohead support act and chart-topping electronic music envelope pushers, announced that they planned to join forces again with studio whiz Apparat aka Sascha Ring, the price on their collective heads went up. Their self-titled debut album which was released today (listen to it in the player) was recorded in Berlin’s lengendary Hansa studios (where David Bowie recorded ‘Heroes’), and unusually for the digital age, was created using old analogue equipment. Beatportal’s Polly Lavine sat down with the holy trinity of Sebastien Szary, Gernot Bronsert and Sascha Ring, and found plenty of things to talk about. |
| Nic Fanciulli takes on Toronto Posted: 09 May 2009 09:34 PM PDT Nic Fanciulli opens the heavy dark wood door of room 1511 in Toronto's Pantages hotel. "Ugh, you woke me up," he grunts, stroking his stomach. It's 12.59am. Nic's DJ set starts in one minute and he's still in his white boxer shorts. Luckily, Nic's touring partner KOS is already at the venue This Is London, holding the fortified booth. |
