With punk rock roots and an initial distaste for dance music, this philosophy PhD dropout began his DJ and production career as a seemingly unwilling participant Yet and still, he was pulled in to the dance music maelstrom, and in a reaction to the sounds that were dominant when he began dabbling, Harris developed a melody-rich and intricate style characterized by complex arrangements and deep atmospherics. |
| LA’s Droog crew launch Culprit label Posted: 20 Mar 2009 01:28 PM PDT Los Angeles is positively brimming with electronic music talent, and the Droog crew are one of the city's most promising techno collectives. Having zoomed onto the horizon with a series of quality intimate techno parties including a weekly Sunday knees up at The Standard hotel downtown, the trio of Andrei Osyka, Brett Griffin and Justin Sloe are fast becoming one of the West Coast's most talked about DJ trios. Now Droog have decided to launch their own label called Culprit, and Seth Troxler, Lee Foss, Lee Curtiss, Kenneth James G., and Jamie Jones all feature on their excellent first EP. He heads up a stage with the unpredictable Damian Lazarus, our favorite electro head, Deadmau5, and the ultra hot German tech house duo Booka Shade in what is a new electronic addition to an otherwise rock 'n' roll kind of festival. |
| Beatport Pool Party WMC blueprints stolen! Posted: 20 Mar 2009 09:34 AM PDT Ok so we didn't really steal the blueprints, but we are kind of ruining the surprise for Beatport Pool Party attendees this year (our marketing department will be angry for divulging such info, but hey, we did it for the people). From the looks of things, the set up for the Beatport stage at The National Hotel in Miami this year will be a bit different to previous years, as the stage looks like it will be located on top of the square shaped swimming pool at the far end of the grounds. |
