| Posted: 18 Mar 2009 06:32 AM PDT Do you remember 'filter house'? Denis Karimani aka Remute certainly does. The term sprung up towards the back end of the nineties to describe the mainly French sound of a crunchy analogue filter chomping on an ceaselessly repeating sampled loop. Or in other words, producers hearing 'Homework' and wanting some of that sweet action. Better known as a purveyor of inhumane, messed-up minimal, Remute has been there or thereabouts for the last few years, minus the breakthrough track that would prick up the ears of an entire scene. |

| Groove Armada launch mini album, chart and video Posted: 17 Mar 2009 06:46 PM PDT UK dance duo Groove Armada have gone release crazy this week with a triple bill consisting of a new mini album, video and Beatport chart. First up, the imaginatively titled 'EP' contains four new brand new tracks released as part of the band's partnership with drinks brand Bacardi. The rum manufacturers struck a first-of-its-kind deal with Groove Armada last year, and are set to release all their future output through its B-Live label. The EP contains the kind of pop-laden combination of vocals and live instruments we have come to expect from the band, as displayed on 'Drop The Tough' and 'Go', both of which feature Saint Saviour of electro-pop outfit The RGBs. James - or Aphex Twin as he is more commonly known - has a new album in the pipeline that will hopefully see the light of day this year. Speaking to BBC's 6music last week, Warp founder Steve Beckett revealed there is material on its way, so long as he can actually extract it from the notoriously 'difficult' producer: “We’re definitely going to be putting out a new album by him. Hopefully it will be this year, if I can prise it out of his hands. It’s definitely on its way.” |

Cevin Fisher's defining late 90s house anthem 'The Freaks Come Out' is set for a double dose of new remixes this spring/summer, 10 years after the track conquered clubland the world over. Reworkings by Anil Chawla, Tim Davidson and Eric Entrena are included in Part 1 of the 10th anniversary mixes, but the real jewel comes from fast-rising Brighton-based house producers Prok & Fitch, who've turned in one of their mixes to date.
