| Great Stuff celebrates 5 years Posted: 06 Mar 2009 02:47 AM PST Munich-based imprint Great Stuff is currently celebrating its fifth anniversary with a world tour and a compilation of new remixes of some of the label's biggest hits. Founding producer Tomcraft launched Great Stuff back in 2003, and it quickly became one of the leading labels for electro house with genre defining releases like Coburn's 'We Interrupt This Program', The Egg's 'Walking Away' and Mason's 'Exceeder'. "Though it was never about only that one sound for GSR," said a spokesperson for the label. "The musical direction has always been clear: peaktime club tunes from any genre – be it house, electro or techno, from minimal to maximal. It was always about the premier league of tasteful club anthems, the future classics with that extra melody or vocal rather than just about pure DJ tools." |

| Daft Punk to score the new Tron Posted: 05 Mar 2009 01:21 PM PST French dance duo Daft Punk have reportedly been signed up to write the score for Disney's forthcoming Tron 2.0 movie, according to Upcoming Film Scores blog. The film is the sequel to the 1982 classic which was scored the first time around by the legendary Moog exponent Wendy Carlos. Bangalter and de Homem-Christo have had previous involvement in a number of films although Tron 2.0 will be their first official full feature score. |

| Video: The six-second break that shaped the world Posted: 05 Mar 2009 02:12 AM PST In this fascinating 20 minute video, Nate Harrison narrates the history of the 'Amen Break', an obscure six-second drum sample for the b-side of a chart topping single from 1969. In the video, Nate argues that this little known break became the basis for all drum & bass and jungle, and it was sampled extensively in early hip hop.
