2008 according to…Brookes Brothers

"For us 2008 will always be the year Fearne Cotton played our tune and Sara Cox made us her record of the week," said Phil Brookes, one half of the Brookes Brothers who are Beatportal's top drum & bass artists of the year. The duo are of course referring to the huge achievement of having their colossal single 'Tear You Down' playlisted by the UK's BBC Radio 1. The station has long been a supporter drum & bass, although to have a track aired during daytime shows is another matter entirely.

Weekend Weapons…Paul van Dyk

Germany's Paul van Dyk needs no introduction, having picked up nearly every accolade in electronic music during his illustrious 17-year DJ career. He's been at the forefront of the trance scene since the early days and has released some of the scene's biggest records. Paul took some time out of his busy schedule to let the Beatportal community know what his current top three Weekend Weapons are. PvD is currently on his VOYNC Sessions Tour taking in cities across the world, and these are the records that are doing the business for him on the 'floor.

Ben Klock readies debut album

Ben Klock has revealed details of his forthcoming debut artist album 'One', which will be released early next year through Ostgut Ton. The Berlin-based producer has assembled a 13 track offering of typically grand, Berghain-styled techno, that also makes reference to dubstep and ambient. “I haven’t had a prefab concept really." said Klock on the album. "All I wanted was to work on it as an album. The piece’s atmospheres in itself and in relation to each other were of greater concern than thoughts like ‘do I need another ambient track, or do I need a kick drum to make this work in a club?’ In principle, all of it’s techno, but I don’t see ‘One’ as a pure club album.”
