Frankie Knuckles, godfather of house, recovering after leg amputation

Frankie Knuckles, a DJ who inspired millions of people to dance to house music, has had to have his leg amputated due to complications from diabetes. Reports on the web suggest that Frankie Knuckles is in recovery after the operation, and messages of support from fans are being posted on forums as you read this.

San Francisco Lovefest to combat recession blues

There's nothing like a good old recession to fuel the party, at least, that's what Lovefest's organisers are hoping in the run up to their annual San Francisco party this Saturday October 4th. The economic downtown ain't gonna affect America's biggest electronic music street party. “Now more than ever we need to take over the streets and City Hall to express and share the values of culture, peace, love, unity, and respect,” said Joshua Smith, LoveFest's founding board member. “There is no better time for an event of this scale and intention. Our community needs to come together, enjoy life and hold onto the good things.”

‘Surefire’ - Henrik B

I once stole a Henrik B techno record from a promo box in a record store in London, and was bitterly disappointed to discover it was too weird to play out. Now it seems, the Swedish producer is moving more towards producing a kind of progressive house/electro house hybrid music, and 'Surefire' is a track that will definitely be fine to drop in a club.

Ireland to host Dublin Electronic Arts Festival, DEAF

Now in its seventh year, Dublin Electronic Arts Festival, which runs this year from Thursday 23rd - Sunday 27th October, will host French techno DJ Laurent Garnier, Underground Resistance's Santiago Salazar, Model 500 and Moritz von Oswald Trio. The closing party on the Sunday looks like it will be particularly special with Juan Atkins, Model 500 and Mike Banks set to play live, as well as Ireland's Legion Of Two and Point B from the UK.
