Videos | Video: Pete Tong Ibiza track ID?

Posted: 08 Aug 2008 07:06 PM CDT

Here's a video of Pete Tong dropping a classic electro house anthem in Ibiza, that we filmed at a secret beach party yesterday. At least I think it's a classic old track, but you can never tell with Pete Tong because he always plays ancient anthems mixed with upfront promos and the new tracks he plays generally end up becoming anthems anyway, so in a way, he only plays anthems. We need the community's help to ID this beauty.

News | Interview - Andrew Weatherall in Paris: Part III

Posted: 08 Aug 2008 11:45 AM CDT

If anything can be known about Weatherall, his art, and perspective, it’s that he’s strictly in the camp of maintaining functionality in dance music, and a post-punk D.I.Y. ethos. In fact he’s just written an article that celebrates 50 years of acid house. His article was about the social impacts of this music, and he explained, “What acid house did was that it made people want to make their own music electronically. "A whole generation of kids grew up into machine music, which fueled the rise of music software that we have today. "That makes it even more DIY than punk.” Weatherall’s article detailed the trajectory of DIY from pre-punk to post-punk electronic music.

Posted: 08 Aug 2008 12:17 AM CDT

Seven of the world's best-known clubs are in Ibiza - Amnesia, Space, Pacha, Privilege, El Divino, Eden, Es Paradis - but for underground techno and house fans DC10 has always been the place to get down. But whilst DC10 has slowly but surely risen to dominate the underground scene of Ibiza, a club by name of Ibiza Underground has also quietly been offering an alternative club vibe hidden well away from tourists. "Ibiza Underground doesn't do any advertising, we don't announce our line-ups and we don't charge on the door," Underground's owner Nick Fry told Beatportal last night. "We're not in it for the money, we just offer an alternative space for people to enjoy themselves."
