| News | Jeff Milligan’s Wii Controller mixing technique Posted: 30 Jul 2008 03:16 PM CDT After Jeff Milligan’s birthday event at Club Der Visionaires in Berlin where he played with Mike Shannon, Beatport caught up with Jeff to hear about his most recent innovation. Jeff Milligan is the four-turntable wizard originally from Toronto who is known for his meticulous mixing skills. He also runs his own label, Revolver, and a few months ago he came out with a great way to use his Wii controller to utilize Serato Scratch short keys while mixing on 4 turntables. He has developed a script that enables him to program the Wii remote to synch with Serato. The Wii becomes like another set of buttons on one side of his mixer that he can use to control Serato, rather than fiddling around with his keyboard. |
| News | Global Gathering: Micky Slim Posted: 30 Jul 2008 11:46 AM CDT Micky Slim is one of those rare artists who fully embraces the culture of dance music. He remembers why he got into the scene in the first place, which is why he made the effort to attend this year’s UK Global Gathering for the whole weekend, rather than simply flying in, playing his set and leaving. In fact, he enjoyed mingling with the other festival goers so much he stood us up twice because he was having such a good time! But when we finally did catch up with the electro house DJ from Birmingham, here’s what he had to say. |

| News | Protest planned against Ibiza’s club laws Posted: 29 Jul 2008 09:06 PM CDT Clubbing doesn't often get political but next Monday at 7 PM in Vara de Rey, Ibiza, a crowd of dance music fans is expected to take to the streets to publicly protest against what they say are oppressive new laws. For the first time this year clubs in Ibiza have been banned from opening before 4.30 PM and must close at 6.30 AM, and the ban on afterhours clubbing has had a detrimental effect on the island's club scene. Visitor numbers are down, businesses are suffering, and with popular underground venue DC10 having been ordered to stay shut for 60 days, clubbers, DJs and some Ibiza business owners are very angry. Some even believe their freedom is under attack. |
