Genrecast: Chill Out 09 - Beatport

For this week's installment of the Chill Out Genrecast, we set it off with tracks from Terrence Parker, Kevin Yost, Gramatik, Beat Pharmacy, and more. Similar to the Beatport Burners, the Genrecast is an 'enhanced' podcast, which means each track in the mix has a track mark and shows the release artwork, so when you listen to it in iTunes or on your iPod you'll be able to skip through tracks in the mix, see the cover art of each release and click through to Beatport to buy the release. It's the easiest way for DJs to do record shopping!

2008 according to…Marcel Dettmann

Pete Tong announces IMS 2009 dates

Following on from the success of his intimate industry-focused electronic music conference in Ibiza, DJ Pete Tong has announced that the 2009 International Music Summit (IMS) will take place from 27th - 29th May. Tong said that IMS 2008 had impacted the future of the scene and the way the music industry moves forward. "The response was overwhelming; people walked away with ideas for the future, with new relationships forged from different aspects of electronica and the film and brand industry," said Tong. "In 2009, we aim to build on this with some exciting new initiatives to be announced in Ibiza.”

There is something incredibly satisfying about listening to Alvaro Ernesto's 'J.A.C.K.' It has to do with the fact the track is unashamedly straight up house music, and untainted by any surrounding genres. Jacking house music doesn't get much better than this.

Redskin - Liapin

Switzerland has been helping to lead the deep house revival in 2008, and the output of Agnes in particular has been particularly refreshing. Having graduated in the minimal scene with his 2007 longplayer 'Dumbles Debut', Agnes' remix of Liapin 'Redskin' taken from his 'Tonkawa' EP shows how his sound has become fuller and more loop based.
