| Posted: 03 Nov 2008 10:22 PM CST Our exclusive Weekend Weapons feature this week comes from one of the biggest influencers in techno - German legend Sven Vath, a DJ who rarely does interviews. As boss of Cocoon Recordings, Sven Vath has built one of the strongest brands in electronic music. This year Ibiza was all about Cocoon: the weekly Monday club nights at Amnesia saw unprecedented numbers of people attend, with upwards of 7,000 people going to Cocoon each night. This past weekend Sven played a Halloween bash at his special Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, and in Zurich at Rohstofflager club. Here are three tracks that destroyed those dancefloors during Sven's sets, in his own words. |
| Beatport launches a worldwide radio show, The Beatport 20 Posted: 03 Nov 2008 10:00 PM CST Music discovery has become increasingly harder in the digital world where every man and his dog has a record label. As a response to this, Beatport has launched a worldwide weekly syndicated radio show called The Beatport 20 (not to be confused with 'The 20' monthly feature on Beatportal) which aims to highlight the 20 best electronic music tracks in the world. The show's music is partly based on what people are purchasing on Beatport.com currently, and on upfront picks from Beatport's in-house team of electronic music experts. That makes it an incredibly useful indicator of what's setting global dancefloors alight. The first show is being broadcast this week, so check out the following list of radio stations to see if it's on your local radar. |

Right now, the format is proprietary and in its early stages, but with the right momentum, it could be a real paradigm shift – even beyond the electronic music community. Let’s take a closer look. |
