| New Horizon - Move D & Benjamin Brunn Posted: 12 Oct 2008 05:59 PM CDT Move D and Benjamin Brunn's 'Songs From The Beehive' is firmly in the running as one of the top techno albums of the year, and here the pair follow up with more rich deepness on Hamburg's excellent Smallville Records. Bringing the best out of Move D's veteran experience and Brunn's lush production prowess, all three tracks here investigate the murky hinterland between home-listening abstraction and intuitive four-to-the-floor beats. | Interview: We call it ‘Si Begg’ house Posted: 12 Oct 2008 02:15 AM CDT “I make music with my computer and other electronic devices. Sometimes it sounds nice; sometimes it is unpleasant and mildly grating.” So declares a simple two-line sentence on Si Begg’s MySpace site – and that’s it. Nothing more. He’s apparently content to let the music on the site speak for itself, which it does. | Drumcode Tour pushes into the red in Toronto Posted: 12 Oct 2008 01:44 AM CDT “I used to play the drums when I was a kid and I’ve always been fascinated by drums,” said Adam Beyer before last night’s gig at Circa club in Toronto. “I like loud things. When I was a kid I used to run around hitting things and everywhere I went I tried to make as much noise as possible. “I was the loudest kid in the classroom; although I have calmed down a lot now.” But has he? The music was so loud in the DJ booth when Adam started his set at 2am, that for shits and giggles, I downloaded an app from the iPhone’s app store called Decibel Meter. |
