| JPLS on his new ‘Combination EP’ for Minus Posted: 09 Oct 2008 10:44 PM CDT JPLS made his first Minus appearance on 2006's 'min2MAX' compilation. He also performed live that year in Detroit for the 'min2MAX' launch showcase. JPLS' sound is cerebral and heady dub-infused techno that is strictly experimental but dancefloor oriented. His latest release in September this year is the ‘Combination EP’, which follows his 'Twilite' release on Minus (check the EP in the player below). We like JPLS' style a lot, so we grabbed him for a few questions. |
| Posted: 09 Oct 2008 09:02 PM CDT Lifeworld, a relatively new label from Hamtramck, Michigan USA, presents 'Internal Structure', an essential techno pick this week. Producer Johannes Volk from Giessen, Germany, surprises with a futuristic Detroit influenced techno EP reminiscent of Kenny Larkin. This is ultra modern yet conscious of techno's old roots at the same time. Read this music recommendation on Beatportal |

When he’s not inventing entire genres (ambient), producing U2, or creating immersive art installations, he’s pioneering an iPhone software product called Bloom (App Store link). |

| Posted: 09 Oct 2008 01:23 PM CDT There’s something about Australians and pop music - they go together like cheese and wine, tea and biscuits, Kylie and Jason. Perhaps it’s hereditary, programmed into their genetics along with surfing, barbeques and playing rugby. Okay, so less of the stereotypes, but let's face it, the Australians know how to write pop anthems, and Cut Copy 'Hearts On Fire' is a prime example of their poptastic abilities. | Posted: 09 Oct 2008 06:18 AM CDT We got sent a link to a photo series showing the making of the famous mau5 head, that Canadian wonderkid Deadmau5 wears when he plays live. We thought it was made out of recycled cereal boxes and toilet rolls, but Joel Zimmerman has gone a lot further than Blue Peter ever would in designing his mask. |
| Posted: 09 Oct 2008 02:51 AM CDT Mode Recordings have been hanging onto this track for over a year now and the anticipation to release this to general public has been massive. After bumping into Komonazmuk as this year's BLOC festival I had the fortune of having my ear chewed off about the brilliance of this release, and how big this was going to be.
